Esports (electronic sports) is organized, competitive, multiplayer video gaming. It features structured tournaments in genres like shooters, racing and strategy games. Events are played on Nintendo Switch consoles and are played in the Woodbury Central Esports Arena powered by Wiatel and live-streamed online. Woodbury Central competes as a part of the Iowa High School Esports Association (IAHSEA) in Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Other competitions across the state of Iowa and may be part of the Woodbury Central program include Marvel Rivals, Rocket League, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch. Like other sports, Esports competitors see over $16M dollars in scholarships awarded every year!
