This past Friday, October 27 is our school-wide Community Service Day. The students at Woodbury Central use this day to give back to their surrounding communities. Every Olweus group thinks about what they could do and chooses something together.

For example, this year the students in Mr. Bormann’s group chose to all make baked goods and deliver them to different families around Moville. Mr. Miller’s group is going to clean up cemeteries.

Mrs. Reinder’s and Mrs. Stratton’s group opted to do their project together and they are going to deep clean up the school’s weight room!

Mrs. Clark and Mrs. McElrath are donating their pop tabs, which they have been collecting for a few weeks, to the Ronald McDonald house in Sioux City. On Friday, the students from these two Olweus groups bussed to the house & visited. Ms. Alons’ group also traveled, although not as far! Her Olweus students chose to all bring canned goods and donate them to the Moville Community Basket. Then, they went to the Kingsley nursing home to talk with the residents, play card games with them and bring them treats.

All of the ideas were thought of the students in each group. It was a fun and productive morning giving back to the community!
